I have read questions about why we use “feeling blue” to describe sad or depressed feeling. Some are based on medical reasons that when our body is starved of oxygen can turn our body bluish. When you were hit with a blunt object your skin could turn deep blue or black. You are in pain or uncomfortable from these conditions. I guess these probably good good reasons people associated sad or depressed with “blue”.
There are many good reasons for blue color is associated with completely opposite feelings too such as happiness, calm and relax. For me, I have stronger association to these feelings with color blue than the other way. Blue sky draws my eyes to it almost every single time. It calms my thoughts all of the sudden for a brief moment.
Sipping my morning cup of coffee, listening to my favorite songs and writing this post on a Saturday morning make me have quite happy blue at the moment.
“I don’t like this livin’, I love it
Sweet magnolia blue sky up above it

I call Carolina home”

Gorgeous photography, YellowCable! I too love blue sky and my eyes are automatically drawn to that blue. Blue to me brings such a feeling of peace and calm with it. I prefer to think blue as being those things versus depressed. Wonderful post just wonderful! Much Love to you this day! 🌹🥀🌸

Lovely picture, YC. I like your interpretation of blue. I too associate it with the skies and the oceans, the joy and the happiness. I was reading somewhere that veins look blue because light has to penetrate the skin to illuminate them. Great post 🙂

The last winter was just like that. Even now, the heat is still on and I recalled a week or so back the AC was on too. Please have a great Sunday!

A happy blue indeed. You capture this rare, natural sky blue I think most of us dream about when we venture outside. Great photos, the blossoms and blue go hand-in-hand together, another feeling I like when under the blue sky.

A blue sky certainly makes me feel happy (maybe because I come from a rainy place). These photos are gorgeous – white against blue – pure happiness. 🙂

The soft focus in the photos and clear branches makes the photo artsy and nice way to write about the two sides of blue (so true) and I have that happy blue vibe as I leave here.

That’s an interesting observation of blue and sadness… I hadn’t thought of that…. it’s really obvious when you think about it for a moment. I also love blue for happy reasons too… blue sky pictures are a favourite for me, especially with pretty flowers. You captured some lovely blossom (makes a change from all the golden leaves I’ve been looking at lately!) 🙂

I love blue sky and bright one as this is my favorite too. It is soothing and therapeutic. It must be lovely Autumn at your place from what you described. This year, there have been so many rainy days from the beginning of the season and a bit too cold too 😦

We must have got your warm weather blown our way! It’s getting colder, and has been very overcast in the sky (not good for photography) but every now and then we have another sunny mild day, and we’re all wondering what we’re wearing coats and scarves for!! 😄

I am glad some warm weather goes there 🙂
The weather over where you live is just about the same as around here too. Since starting of Autumn this year, it has been overcast, rainy and cold. There has been about one day a week where there are breaks of sunny and warm. Yea… today it is the day. I just love it.
