A Yellow Goblet Collecting Sunlight

Imagination is one of the sources of creativities. I have come across a news about a possibility to develop a drive that lets a spaceship travel faster than speed of light without introducing something so exotic (negative energy which does not seem to exist) and breaking the law of physics. I am sure scientists have been attempting to see if we can travel faster than light since we learned the speed limit of the universe many years ago. But in my opinion, the idea may have come from a TV series ‘Star Trek’. The spaceship USS Enterprise employ ‘warp drive’ that allowed the ship to travel faster than speed of light and went about every where in the galaxy. I think that is an imagination that sparked the idea and led us to seek away to realize it.

As you read this, you may think this is a post on April 1st πŸ™‚ No, this is not an April Fools article (unless I was reading a fake article a few weeks ago – a very early April Fools story if that was the case). I am very excited. It is one small dust step closer to realize a spaceship that can travel far into space. Perhaps, a couple of hundred years from now but Yea!!!As you read this, you may think this is a post on April 1st πŸ™‚ No, this is not an April Fools article (unless I was reading a fake article a few weeks ago – very early April Fools story). Oh, for me now I imagine when seeing this tulip that so looks like a goblet. It is just a special one only to come up once a year and collect early spring sunlight..

Have a Happy April Fools day and Happy Spring!

“Imagination is one of the sources of creativities.”

Which comes first the imagination or the creativity?

Either way you get a +10 for your post. πŸ™‚

That is a very good question. I am sure I am 99% wrong but I would say imagination comes first πŸ™‚

Thank you for a great comment.

I never imagined I could create a great comment.
So I guess imagination doesn’t come first. πŸ™‚

I don’t know a lot about physics, but the idea of traveling faster than the speed of sound doesn’t appeal to me. I’m a nervous passenger, so the pilot would have to gag me. I love your gorgeous bokeh image. That goblet really glows. So good to see a post from you, YC. 😍

Ha, ha, I also do not like the idea of traveling fast too but I am fine if I do not see what is going on outside πŸ™‚

      Thank you for your comments!

Love the picture, and the thought of it catching the light along with the light drive.

Faster than light? I am sure it comes with a price. Maybe time stops completely… Which I won’t like much (although it runs too fast these days). Anyway, it’s a beautifully captured tulip.

I might not put it not quite correctly. The ship does not actually move faster than speed of light. It does not violate this speed limit. What it does is like shorten the space in front of it thus it can get to distance places in much shorter time than light would travels at the same distance. Sorry for not being clear.

You are right if it would move closer to the speed of light or at the speed of light some things wired would happen to you. I am not sure I like that too.

Thank you for your comment Otto!

Nice backlighting. Kind of reminds me of those lanterns with the candles that get launched into the air.

I think I saw that article you mentioned, but I didn’t read it. There’s a more recent one that suggests dark energy isn’t as big a component of the universe as current theory suggests (70% or so), and that replacing it with a magnetic force tied to dark matter could also explain the expanding universe. Maybe they could build a starship to cruise upon “magnetic rails”. It’s all pretty pie in the sky to me.

That is a good analogy. I know what you mean.
We are on slightly different paths πŸ™‚ I saw the article you mentioned too but I did not read that one. Normally I would read but my interest in dark matter is lessen recently.

That is a cool idea! If the field is strong enough to actually pushes things away from each other, that might a away to go fast!

Have a super Easter I loved your photograph. Elon Musk and Richard Branston seem very intrigued by space travel as does Sarah Brightman, As a child I wondered if you flew straight up into space and the earth keeps turning, how high would you need to go up to come straight back down in Australia from the UK in a few hours, say two hours up and a couple of hours down.

That is a good idea! For the total of 4 hours, that would be much shorter than flying straight. If you just hang in there without moving and let the earth rotate it might be safer too.

Thank you that you like the picture!

Late to the space revelation, YC, but it’s intriguing. I loved Star Trek and always wished we could be beamed places.πŸ˜„
Love your β€œgoblet”…great shot and imagination.
