For me winter is the time that I don’t feel like doing much of anythings. I keep watching up and down of the cold temperatures. After the peak of the winter has passed, I have been telling myself it is another minute longer day coming… I would be happier soon. 2 out of 3 the famous groundhogs predicted shorter winter (people say mostly they are wrong though). That sounds very good but I am developing a different feel now. I want winter to last, may be just a little bit longer. I think I might have found things that I could be happy with during the time that I wished the time could move a little faster… It feels like you’ve found few drops of water in hot desert. Those few drops of water are your life extender, the treasures that you would never thought of possible. They are not easy to find for sure. Perhaps, it is our mind that so focuses on things are easily seen, those superficial things and deeper values are overlooked.
YellowCable, I used to dread Winter but this year for the first time ever, I actually enjoyed it. I had more fun, I saw so much Beauty! When we adjust our focus, our intention our world can totally change. I’m glad to know you are seeing how you can like Winter! ❄️❄️❄️

You are right Amy. I started to like winter a little bit more. I do not think I like it much before as you said. Not that I see much outside but just from its effects that I can feel. Please have a great weekend! Thank you.

Hi Amy and YellowCable,
I like the three snowflakes at the end of Amy’s comment.
I wonder why YellowCable has chosen a monochrome photo rather than a colour-photo to accompany this post. Are you trying to convey the bleakness of winter?
Now that it is the final month of winter, SoundEagle would like to gift and greet both of you with more lovely and fluffy Snowflakes, even animated ones, plus a lovely poem about Snowflakes, at https://soundeagle.wordpress.com/2012/10/19/%e2%9d%84-%e2%9d%85-%e2%9d%86-snowflakes-tell-me-why-you-are/

Thank you for the gift SoundEagle. You asked a great question about the picture. My reasons and I think B&W matches the scene or picture well (according to my eyes). I presents the winter well and its mood. However, even with all of these there is something that I like about it thus the little expression from the write up.

Amazing photo! I also do not want to do anything in the cold winter. But for the Earth it is also necessary to have snow and rain. Have a nice weekend!

Wakasahs15th san, thank you. Winter is part of nature we live in. We have to have it.

No matter the season, I think we all have a tendency to overlook what is right in front of us.

That’s a beautiful monochromatic photograph! As much as I love trees in full foliage there’s a particular beauty embedded in them especially during winter.
Like you I’m not feeling up to do much in this time of year, this is especially true in the last stages of winter when I think spring will never come. But the days are getting longer each day and temperatures will rise too, we just need to be patient. 😊

Thank you Sarah! Yes, I do like trees in full or bare as these. They are different. Perhaps just like us that on occasion we wear different styles of clothing.
Those are good signs. I am very patient this time 🙂

I like the idea of comparing the trees’ different stages with us wearing different clothes through the seasons! 😀

🙂 Winter is the season they dress up much less than we do 🙂

It is a beautiful wintry image you took. Our spring started early this year, but you know, winter’s revenge storms in March are not unusual 🙂 It is not July yet and everything is possible 🙂 I am wishing you a happy Sunday regardless of the weather conditions ❤

Thank you.. It seems Mr. Groundhog’s prediction is accurate this year for Ireland. I hope his prediction is accurate globally. The temperature is average for winter time for today (not too cold but still cold regardless).
Wow, that was quite a mood swing for the winter to revenge that late in the year. I had to go back and look at what month I was in Ireland last time. It was around late June which I think was no surprised that it was very nice as I recall correctly.
I wish you have a great day as well 🙂

Some years here you wouldn’t know winter from summer. I remember wearing the same clothes all the year round 🙂

I think that could be very good for having nearly the same climate nearly most of the year.

Yes, if it is rather a summer climate 🙂

Thank you Otto. I have heard that in Norway, people there are very adapted to winter quite well. Someone who just visited Oslo told us a story about how city deals with snow quite well.

Spring is my favourite season, not too cold, nor too hot or hopefully not too rainy. I agree with your feelings about Winter I’ve been walking a pet dog all week for an hour each morning and the park in London is beautiful in the winter. I’ve never really walked in a park too often in the winter and to be honest I don’t think the dog I’m looking after walks so far every day as she likes to sit and gives me time to just look around. It’s quieter and more peaceful, it is still sunny although cold but I can wrap up. I like the reflection in your photograph, that is just what Winter does gives us time to reflect.

You are right. When I see people take dogs out for walks in cold winter days, I could not help thinking that must be very unpleasant activity to do. I don’t want to go out anywhere if I don’t have too during winter time at all. Ah, Sunny day in Winter can help a lot for me.
I am glad you like the reflection in the picture. Thank you!

This year, I didn’t mind winter. I am using this period doing Death cleaning rather wait for spring cleaning. I enjoyed reading this.

Beautiful image YC. The tree reflections are lovely. I guess it’s all a matter of attitude. We can train our mind to find the good in almost anything, even a cold winter. You’re obviously thinking positive, which is a very healthy state of mind. 🙂

I am with you on this – I have come to value winter –
And maybe it is knowing that it will be over it makes me embrace and want a few more snow storms –
Hm
And this sentence from you was a serous gold nugget:
“Those few drops of water are your life extender”

I think part of what you mentioned is true. Perhaps, once you accustom to it it becomes another comfort zone for you. Ah, again we trend to resist changes.

Powerful thoughts in this post, YellowCable. Gorgeous image!! This is the first Winter in my life that I actually enjoyed. I discovered those aspects of Winter to fall in Love with, and it sounds to me as if the very thing is happening to you. All Seasons have something very special and if we only but see those things, our lives would be so much happier. I really enjoyed your post! 🌈

Well, if you want winter to last longer, just move to Colorado. We had snow yesterday and are expecting more today too. Coloradan don’t let it stop them though … they just bundle up!

I love it when winter arrives, and your photo is the reason why: there is a stripped down bleakness the cold brings and for a while it is comforting and it allows me to recharge as well. But then come around January-February, and I cannot wait for spring. I think winter allows us to recalibrate ourselves, so when spring arrives we are delighted and go out to enjoy life once again 🙂 Wish you a great spring, my friend!

That is a very good way to look at Winter. I have not thought of it a the time to recalibrate ourselves. Indeed, it makes the emerging of spring a delight! Thank you!

Winter does leave me with a bit of a stagnating feeling… but maybe it’s good not to be rushing about all year round… have some time to be reflective and stare out windows… watch the world go by. I like all the seasons, I’d find it hard to live somewhere where it’s the same weather all year through. So how have you been enjoying the spring? I’ve been making an effort to get around the city where I live to take street pictures on sunny days… I love the deep shadows on a bright day in spring… makes everything look so much more striking. 😎

Yes, winter is a perfect time for those. I agree it is not good to be in rush or so busy all year round. Winter is the time to let thing run a bit slower and keep yourself warm in your house.
I have not much spending time out side for Spring this year. It seems to pass very quick into Summer now. That is ok. I am content to watch it goes as is. It seems you have a great Spring time there 🙂
