Spring started here, I meant not by calendar marking but the actual nature markers. Colors, sun light, longer days, and the mild weather are the real markers. I recalled… an afternoon. It was not an afternoon in spring but it had most of those spring signs.
This was a bright afternoon. Roses were budding and blooming. Not all of them were, however. Some were already in full bloom even worn and fade. Nevertheless, they made the afternoon so great.
Budding Roses
A blooming young rose.
Not so young roses
Someone once pointed this part of the poem to me:
“Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today,
Tomorrow will be dying…”
Nice photos. Our roses are only thinking about leafing out.

Thank YOU! I miss my roses so darn much and am concerned that some of them will not be coming back due to the extremely cold and brutal winter we had. I have the rose catalogs ready and waiting just in case …

Such beautiful pictures – really very lovely!! 😀 Spring has really sprung! I like your piece of the poem, very true, time is always flying, and flowers are a good analogy of our human life. We should enjoy every day as much as we can, time is precious. And enjoy the flowers – while they last! 🙂

Fantastic, beautiful almost MICRO amazing pictures of those roses forming buds, #AwesomeCaptures
The detail and clarity of these pictures is absolutely stunning – and not just of the buds, but those thorns! #Ouch – no wonder the things hurt so much when we’re getting stabbed by them… #Vicious
Thanks for sharing. Roses don’t grow particularly well up here in the tropics… or maybe they do and I just have the fantastic knack of killing almost every plant I have been provided the care of! lol
Thanks for sharing

Oh yeah!! lol Leave them with me for a year and they will gone, gone gone.. to plant heaven!
I do have 2 plants right now, that are going well – Dr Elephant – he sits by my front door, I feed him water every now and again, he gets just the right amount of sunlight and I also give him some liquid fertilizer stuff that smells worse than a million animals rotten poo!
However, it does seem to be working.. lol

I can understand the hard work to maintain a garden. IMHO, depends on what kinds, roses can be disease prone as well. I think you need to put them in the right location of particular kind.
Thank you Laurie that you like the image!!!

Nothing quite like spring breaking free from winter…great series, and while the second shot mesmerizes, the buds just breaking out are beautiful to see. Well done.
